Cecilia Lanata Briones es Doctora y Magíster en Historia Económica por la London School of Economics and Political Science y Economista y Socióloga por la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Actualmente es Teaching Fellow en el Departamento de Economía de la University of Warwick e Investigadora Adjunta del Centro Interdisciplinario para el Estudio de Políticas Públicas. Sus áreas de interés son la sociología del conocimiento estadístico o sociología de la cuantificación y la historia económica, política y social argentina y latinoamericana. Sus investigaciones se enfocan al estudio de las instituciones e instrumentos de la estadística pública en Argentina y en Latinoamérica en perspectiva histórica. Sus intereses van desde la producción a los usos sociales y políticos de las estadísticas. Investigadora Honoraria (Global Income Inequality Project) de la University of Sussex, Secretaria de la History Section de la Royal Statistical Society y miembro de Associação das Américas para a História da Estatística e do Cálculo das Probabilidades (AAHECP). Su tesis doctoral “Constructing Public Statistics: the history of the Argentine cost of living index, 1918-1943" obtuvo el "Primer premio a la mejor tesis doctoral en América Latina, Premio Carlos Díaz Alejandro para tesis del período 1913-2000".

Cecilia Lanata Briones has a PhD and an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and Political Science, she also holds a BSc in Economics and an BSc in Sociology from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Currently she is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick and Adjunct Researcher of the Centro Interdisciplinario para el Estudio de Políticas Públicas. She is interested in the sociology of statistical knowledge or the sociology of quantification and the economic, political and social history of Argentina and Latin America. Her research focuses on the study of institutions and public statistics in Argentina and Latin America in historical perspective. Her interests range from production to the social and political uses of statistics. She is also an Honorary Research Fellow (Global Income Inequality Project) of the University of Sussex, she is Secretary of the History Section of the Royal Statistical Society and a member of the Associação das Américas para a História da Estatística e do Cálculo das Probabilidades (AAHECP). Her PhD thesis “Constructing Public Statistics: the history of the Argentine cost of living index, 1918-1943" was awarded the prize of best PhD thesis on Latin America, Carlos Díaz Alejandro award for thesis for the period 1913-2000.
